Mario Party Superstars: Yoshi’s Tropical Island And Horror Land Are Back
I was so wrong. Yesterday I tried to predict the last two boards to be remastered for Mario Party Superstars. My theory was that DK’s Jungle Adventure (Mario Party) and Western Land (Mario Party 2) would be the boards to return. However, I am glad to be wrong in this case. While I do enjoy both of these boards, I made my choices purely on logic. Western Land is the cover map for Mario Party 2, and DK’s Jungle is a simple map from the original game.
My true heart lies with Horror Land and Yoshi’s Tropical Island (especially Horror Land). Fortunately, these are the two maps that just got confirmed during the recent Nintendo Direct. Horror Land may be my favorite Mario Party board ever, but out of all of the choices I never expected it to make the cut. Once again, I am so glad I was wrong. Anyways, let’s jump in and discuss the noticeable changes from these two maps. I’ll also discuss Woody Woods, as it previously had no gameplay footage.
The Final Maps For Mario Party Superstars Are Confirmed
Yoshi’s Tropical Island (Mario Party)
Red Yoshi is stuck on an island, but that isn’t our problem. We are just here to party like it’s 1997. The map is exactly how we all remember it. Bowser and Toadette (not Toad anymore) will swap places when someone secures the star or lands on a mischievous happening space. The music is as good as I remember, but this time remastered for the modern age.
Horror Land (Mario Party 2)
One of my favorite Mario Party boards of all time is back! Let me tell you, Horror Land is looking great on the Nintendo Switch. The day and night mechanic is still here (just in time for Halloween), and this time King Boo is here too steal some stars at night. The whomps still seem to harden and become immovable at night, so the map must remain quite faithful to the original version.
Woody Woods (Mario Party 3)
The infamous Monty Moles from Mario Party 3 are still here to stir up some trouble. The map can change direction at any time thanks to those (once again) mischievous happening spaces. Not much else is shown from the map, but I am just glad Mario Party 3 is getting atleast a little bit of love in Mario Party Superstars.
Additional New Features
Additionally, players can head to Mt. Minigame to compete against other players – even online – for the longest win streak or in a cooperative style tag match. This is a great way to spice up the game, and I couldn’t be more excited. Mario Party Superstars launches October 29th, 2021.
