Fall Out Boy are back! And this time they brought the guitars back too for Love From The Other Side. The band have been gearing up for a big release every since they first started teasing new music on Christmas. Following some cryptic marketing stunts with Oli Sykes from Bring Me The Horizon, the hype was real for this track to drop.
Well now that day is here! Fall Out Boy have officially released their new single “Love From The Other Side“, and we even have information regarding their upcoming album “So Much (For) Stardust“.

Fall Out Boy are playing to their strengths and having a triumphant return to form with “Love From The Other Side“. Just in time too! As we are definitely seeing a resurgence of early 2000’s emo and pop punk in the mainstream.
Love From The Other Side sounds like Fall Out Boy are tapping into their sounds from the Infinity On High or Folie A Deux albums. The track features fast guitars and pounding drums, something that has been missing from their recent works.
The instrumentation isn’t the only thing to be hyped about here however, as the vocal delivery of Patrick Stump also brings the classic Fall Out Boy vibe. He sounds as great as always, but the lyrical structure and delivery on the song just scream classic emo with a modern twist.
This track is sure to be an instant classic, but I am more interested in what comes next. The upcoming record “So Much (For) Stardust” is shaping up to be something great. Hopefully the next couple of singles keep this trajectory going.

Love From The Other Side is only the beginning for this new era of Fall Out Boy. Following the release of the energetic single, the band announced their upcoming album “So Much (For) Stardust“.
The album is assumed to be a return to guitar-focused music for the band, and this is backed up by comments by the band members. One of my favorite albums of all time is “From Under The Cork Tree” from the band, so I am totally on board with this return to their earlier style.

The most interesting parts about this tracklist are that Love From The Other Side is the first track off the album. This makes sense, as the track has a long intro and build up in the original cut. So not only is the single our first introduction to So Much (For) Stardust, it is literally the introduction to the album!
Additionally, it is interesting that Ethan Hawke features in the track “Pink Seashell“. This is an interesting move, and I look forward to seeing how this plays out. This could be an interlude, but who knows with Fall Out Boy! They once had Jay-Z introduce the band for the track “Thriller” from “Inifinity On High”, so anything is fair game.
Additionally, based on the tracklist, it seems that Oli Sykes from Bring Me The Horizon is not featured on any song. I guess the teasing from Oli was just a marketing tactic. Regardless, it was interesting to see these two worlds collide leading up to the release of Love From The Other Side.

The highly-anticipated new Fall Out Boy album “So Much (For) Stardust” will release March 24th, 2023. Fortunately we won’t have to wait long to hear more music from this new era for the band.
